Great comic,ICC....i have read it as THE ISLAND OF NO RETURN which was subsequently republished(former ECCENTRIC COUNT) by the publication.Keep it up.
Many thanks.
Also sincere thanks to Ajay and Vineeth.
Great effort.
Wow! Thanks a lot for this comic, ICC. I have this comic back home, but I was missing the first two pages of the issue, and always wondered what happened in the first two pages. Thanks! :) Also, I think the one I have was a two-part IJC, there was a Rip Kirby story in it too.
Goos release!
It later re-published as Vol.24 No.2!!
@Aditya: Then that's NOT 'this' one,as re-published version completed within a single indrajal!
As u said a Rip also there....it's may b Vol.23 No.32/33(The Trials Of Valour) which also abt an 'ecentric Count' ,who owned an unknown island & kidnapped Mandrake n Co there!
P.S.- There are 7/8 Mandrake 2-Part stories with Rip Kirby as inside!

@Dara - Oh yeah, I think you're right - I must have this issue itself (only the inking part seems different, and Lothar is more mdoern looking!) - I think I got confused about the Rip Kirby thing coz in that binding (most of my IJCs are bound), this one was followed by a Kirby comic, so I suppose that's why I thought it was a 2 part series! :)
@Abitya:
If Lothar looks Modern,then it must be what I mentioned,i.e. 'another' ecentric count(1986 publicatn)....but,it's true....this current comic is MORE thriller than what I've mentioned!!
most of my IJCs are bound
Oye,,,,tumne toh Chupa Rustam nikle!! ;-)
So,I guess...you've many of that 1986-1990 period??
Fact is,those 1970-1980 IJCs have their 'vintage effects' no doubt ,but as we were introduced in late '80s with IJC (I guess,you were in '87...am in '89)...those are bit 'more' close to us!!all 'then' published characters like ,P/M/B/F even Dara/Rip are having a bit more 'special' feeling to us. :))
For the same reason,I'm MORE fond of Modern-short-haired stylist Bahadur than the earlier one!! ;))
It's same for you,I think!
@Dara
Actually, the story was the same one - Grisha is the bald guy who kidnaps the geniuses for the Count.
Ha ha! I'm no Chuppa Rustum - I have about 40-50 IJCs, I think - and they're all bound, and unfortunately they're all in Bangalore, while I am far far away from them! That's why I love these blogs - they're so cool! I'm discovering so many IJCs I have never read!
Me too - I love the more modern sophisticated Bahadur (and Bela!) ;)
Sorry for being so late. Been in some hectic times. Nice to about the other comics you got.
This is a good story. I have its republished version (of course in hindi, as usual).
Egmont phantoms are good only for a change, not as regular. I wouldn't be going for them given a chance.
Excellent comic. Thanks for this. The story line is taut, with a very interesting end. Very unlike regular Mandrake stories.

Aditya,
One thing I forgot to mention is the 'modernisatn' of Bela's Character n look as well!!;)
If you read Surti's Bahadur adventures in '78/'79 & then in '83/84 ....will see the change!!
But,the MOST exciting change(both charcter/look wise) happened since '87..specially when "Promod Brahamania" took the charge of Illustrator (from Vol.25 No.41:The dreaded Fugitive).....Bela got a REAL modern-look!!
If one read 'The Death Duel(Vol.26-18)' or 'The raging evil(26-28: A 'BELA' SPECIAL ;-))' upto The Ghasty Encounter(26-38:again a BELA special)...
Last but NOT the least,,,,,'Snake Charmer's Bait'(Vol.27 No.5)!!!....who can forget it??? wow!!Bela was sooo hot there(emerging frm Lake in ...;)) & then figitng with dacoits !!
Ohh....It's like a proof of an EXTREME FAN of Bahadur- our SUPER-HERO (wid Super-woman too!! ;))!!
In short,we ALL miss him badly,,,,,,,,:((
why no one is posting ACK or tinkle out here ????
plzzzzzzz can someone post these comics too......
